Q: I see your classes are for grades 1 - 12. Are younger children accepted?
A: Do we accept children who are not yet in first grade? Yes we
do. We realize the value of being able to associate with a network of homeschooling families; especially
for those who are just starting out. We have a schedule that starts with 4 -
6 year olds. We do not have specific classes planned for toddlers but
families that include toddlers are welcome. Parents with younger
children are expected to monitor their children.
Q: Are there any fees associated with joining your group?
A: Yes, there are certain fees. The reality of this society requires that we do assess certain fees.
The money we raise helps us to cover the rental cost for the building where we hold
our classes. There is also a need to have group insurance coverage plus other miscellaneous expenses
needed to help keep the co-op running smoothly. We try our best to provide good stewardship of the
funds so that our members are not overly burdened, while maintaining sufficient funds to cover our
expenses.
We charge a tuition fee. Tuition fees are assessed per child each term but no member family will be required
to pay tuition for more than four children per term. We are currently assessing
$45.00 per participating
child for each semester.
There may also a fundraising program in which members are expected to be involved. For those members who
exceed the fundraising minimum a credit will be applied for the following term.
Q: I would like to visit the co-op to see how it works and meet the families. Am
I allowed to visit during class days?
A: Yes, we do encourage prospective members to visit with us. For more information see
our
visitor policy statement.
A: Because we are a co-operative organization we really do depend on the efforts of
all our member families. Our participation policy
gives more details about what is expected from members.
Q: Can I register younger students in classes designed for older grades?
A: We actually discourage this since our teachers try to gear each class for the specified
grade/age levels. The parent requesting this must have explicit approval from
the teacher. In some cases we really can not make an exception.
